My 7 June 2009 Coin Hunting Trip in Butterworth Roadwalk

Until June this year I had been in Penang 3 times for my coin hunting trips. Sorry to all my frequent reader because I don't have time to post them lately. Some friends asked me why do I go to all the way to Penang to buy my stuff? the answer is simply because you can buy your coin, banknote, antiques or any collectibles much more cheaper in Penang. I will not come back empty handed when I am doing a hunting trip in Penang. I am doing blogging simply because I want to share where do I get my coin, banknote or paper money from. I don't like to buy my coin in normal coin shop because the higher price given.

My latest hunting trip to Penang is in 7 June 2009. I am looking for King Edward VII 50 cents 1902 or 1903 coin. Never seen that coin for sale even once in my entire collecting life. I visited few coin friends in Penang. One of them is uncle Ah Kit in Butterworth Roadwalk. To all of my reader who had been buying from all my banknote and coin friends, thanks for supporting small time trader like us. It is good to hear that someone exactly is reading my blog and called my friends looking for something.

I remember some friend is asking my help on finding some old banknotes in Very Good condition. I check my e-mail but I cannot find who is asking about them. One of the banknotes is Malaya and British Borneo Queen Elizabeth 50 dollar banknote in fine condition. Another banknote is King George Malaya emergency issue 25 cents in fine condition. He is selling Malaya and British Borneo Queen Elizabeth 50 dollar banknote for RM250.00 and Malaya King George emergency issue 25 cents for RM200.

I cannot find what I am looking for in Uncle Ah Kit stall but I found some banknote and coin that interest me. Will be posting about them later on. Apple Inc Part 1

This morning I was driving with one eye open due to my contact lense came out. My eyes too dry.Is so difficult and scary. Thank God! manage to reach office safely.


Last night, I am suppose to start my analysis on SWOT, Value Chain, PESTLE and many other tools that I had learned in my Competitive Strategy class on Apple Inc.
Yeah! need to complete that by this Sunday and send over to turnitin and get the cert. then can submit on 10th July 2009.

Worst thing! I end up staring at the computer blank and don't know how to start... I suppose to think about Apple Inc. but end up think about Apple as a fruit. Isshhh! for 3 hours sat there with all apples flying above my head.

How to start?

Even this morning I am in the office I still don't have any clue on how to start. I will try again tonight and think hard about this when I am driving back tonight.
I am also very worried on my coming Saturday presentation. Ah! for the sake of getting the salary at the end of the month. I will give my less best shot! Hope I can find better path after my MBA.

I still find all this 'Kick Off' thingy totally waste of everybody's time and weekend. I don't know. I have a bad feeling on this Saturday to be a total flunk!

However, I will try to put up my best fake face to these people. Yeah! DRAMA again. Hate this though!

Oh ya! talk about presentation. I still trying to find way to start the power point for my talk.
I don't feel nervous for this presentation because I know what its all about. Don't need that note though.
I can just go bla bla bla bla on the systems for this sytems for that! We talk and do nothing about it.Yeah! stop me stop me and I will still bla bla bla hehehehe . This is when Rina go over border!

Controversy on the New 50,000 Won Banknotes

There is some controversy and confusion over the new Korea 50,000 won banknote. The new banknote depicts Shin Saimdang (1504-1551), a female writer and calligrapher from the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). She represents a “wise mother,” raising one of the most prominent scholars, Yulgok, whose portrait is on the 5,000 won bill. Korean citizen complaint that they cannot differentiate the new banknote with 5,000 Won banknote, The blind people a little bit hard to getting familiar with the new banknotes and the family complaining that the picture in the banknote doesn't look like her.

DIFFERENT FACE CONTROVERSY

The Bank of Korea (BOK) 한국은행 will issue a new 50,000 won banknote in June. The new banknote depicts Shin Saimdang (1504-1551), a female writer and calligrapher from the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). She represents a “wise mother,” raising one of the most prominent scholars, Yulgok, whose portrait is on the 5,000 won bill. Shin is going to be the first woman to be featured on Korean currency.

The BOK unveiled a sample of the new banknote to the public on February 25 after completing its design and anti-forgery protection. However, concerns started to rise over Shin’s portrait. Members of the Gangneung Choi family, relatives of Shin, requested the BOK to retrieve the original look of Shin, saying that the portrait drawn on the new bill is totally different from Shin’s original portrait.

Choi Sun-kyu, a representative of the Choi family said, “Shin’s face is longer in the original copy than in that on the banknote,” and added, “Shin passed away at the age of 48 but the banknote shows a woman in her 30s without any wrinkles.”

In response to the discontent, Lee Jong-sang, who painted Shin for the new 50,000 won banknote, confirmed that he drew her based on the original copy and replied that a person’s features can look different if you view them from a slightly different angle. Moreover, the BOK stated that Shin’s portrait was drawn with the help of experts based on the original copy and therefore the new 50,000 won banknote will not be modified and will begin its circulation as was planned.

Confusion and controversy surrounded the first days of 50,000 won banknotes in circulation, the highest denomination bill ever issued in Korea. Worth about $38, the new notes debuted on June 23, amid both hopes and worries as Korea goes all out to boost private consumption while warnings grow over the risk of inflation on a global scale.

Controversy erupted shortly after the introduction. Local media took issue with the "windowed security thread," which the Bank of Korea billed as one of the cutting-edge anti-counterfeiting features of the new notes. Some parts of the strip appear to be a series of silver dashes on the paper surface. The paper on which the strip is embedded separates a bit at the end, which reports suggested may be a defect that may cause problems with automatic teller machines.

"A test conducted by the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corp. showed that there is no problem using 50,000 won notes at ATMs, even when the paper-separation phenomenon happens," Lee Nae-hwang, a BOK official said yesterday in response to these reports.

"But please do not intentionally separate (the security strip in notes) out of curiosity."

The new notes, five times more valuable than the 10,000-won notes which have been the country's highest denomination bill for 37 years, are designed to be distinctively different from the existing notes, BOK officials explained. They are the longest in size and the first to feature a woman. Still, some find it little confusing.

A citizen complained on the BOK's website: "I still have trouble telling 1,000 won notes from 10,000-won notes when the lights are dim. The new 50,000-won notes also look much too similar to 5,000-won bills."

The 50,000 won notes have the color of golden yellow, while 5,000-won bills have red and yellow. Other paper notes have blue or green. A citizen posted comments to the website of the Bank of Korea, complaining that supermarkets and small shops have to prepare more small change in case customers pay by the 50,000 won notes for a cheap item.

Meanwhile, associations for the visually-impaired were busy helping blind people become familiar with the new notes. The BOK plans to supply banknote gauges which should help them to identify four different banknotes. "They will be released within the month," officials said.

At an online marketplace Auction, the daily sale of forgery testers soared threefold since the introduction of the new bills, company officials said.

Staying Alive

Thank God! the presentation was over!
My nervous breakdown much more better than my 1st presentation.
I still unhappy because I still unable to put that confidence when talking.
I admire one of my coursemate whom sat down on the table and just talk and talk without even having any notes to refer. So confidence! I am over jealous and envy him!
As we predicted since our group present Proton Berhad so many question arises when Q&A session open to the floor...

We need to submit the written report soon so currently , I am working on it.
Many analysis need to put in but there were words limit.
To write and elaborate is not that difficult but to cut down the words from 2,000 to 1,500 is the challenge. You feel everything is important!

My other team member will hate me so much because they give me no choice to throw some of their write up to appendix in term of referrence table. Forgive me! I need to make sure all of us to comply with the rules.

I am trying to finish all this at least by this Tuesday.
Yeah! I have my own time line.
Very tight though...

4th July 2009 management presentation for my Company (I have not prepare anything yet, damn! I am so screwed up this time)
5th July 2009 submission for Group Assignments
12th July 2009 submission for Individual Assignment (which I read half of Apple Readings and suppose to do the whole analysis.. damn!)
18th and 25th July 2009 exams.

I may need to go to Sabah in between which I feel I may just pass that trip due to my tight schedule.

Busy Busy

As mentioned before, its busy 2 months ahead for me.
Enough to say I have been like nomad for the past few weeks.
Work loads and studies.
I am also busy managing up in the company.
I feel like I don't have any private time.
I come home to just have some 4-5 hours sleep.
Most of the time on the road or office.

I miss my korean and japanese drama.
But sometimes when you getting older you don't have time to watch all this craps anymore!
If I still have time to watch all this meaning , no progress in life.

I am working harder.. yeay yea people say work smart not hard..
I tried to be smart but I am not that smart so have to accept the fact and work harder and put more efforts!

Tough journey!
I wish to see my so called silence enemy at the top.
I want to look down at him one day and say hey!
I am more successful than you with my own effort.

Nothing to proud off if you are overidding on story such selling magazines door to door.
But the story need to be consistent.
If you can afford RM1000 plus camera in 1989, you are not poor as you claimed.
If you can throw bash party on your 21 birthday with in house DJ , you are not poor.

Oh ya got carried away here... I am mad at somebody so just need to express before my mind gone hair wired.

South Korea New 50,000 Won

Do any of you remember about South Korea 50,000 won banknote with woman to appear in their banknote for the 1st time? On 22 June 2009, Bank of Korea Governor Lee Seong Tae release the new banknote for public use. The front of the bill - South Korea's largest-denominated note show artwork by and a portrait of Shin Saim-dang, a well-known artist who died in 1551. Shin was the mother of Yi I, a famous Confucian scholar, and is popularly referred to as a symbol of a "wise mother and good wife."

SEOUL - SOUTH Korea on Tuesday issued its first high-denomination banknote for 36 years, ending an era of bulging wallets and raising hopes among retailers that consumers may be enticed to spend more. The 50,000-won (S$57) bill is the highest-value note since the 10,000-won bill was issued in 1973.

It is also the first to carry the portrait of a woman, in what one newspaper called a sign of greater gender equality in a formerly male-dominated society. Scores of curious customers queued outside the central Bank of Korea, trying to obtain bills with early serial numbers which can be sold to collectors.

Since 1973 commodity prices have risen twelvefold and per capita income has increased 110 times, forcing many Koreans who do not wish to use credit cards to carry thick wads of notes or bank cheques issued in fixed sums. The new note will reduce the cost of issuing such cheques, which stood at 280 billion won (S$310 million) last year. The government had previously resisted moves for a higher-value banknote, partly due to forgery fears. The new note has sophisticated anti-forgery features such as holograms.

It carries the portrait of Shin Saimdang, a 16th century female artist and writer. Her appearance 'has clear implications about the improved status of women and gender equality in modern days,' the Korea Times said.

Its editorial said the bill would likely encourage spending but could also fuel inflation and make corruption easier than ever. 'The note may be easily used for politicians and business people to raise slush funds, provide or receive bribes or pay for dubious deals,' it cautioned. -- AFP

Catastrophic Earthquake to Hit Metro Manila???

According to Kartoch, head of the Emergency Services Branch of the United Nations’ Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7 or higher on the Richter scale will hit Metro Manila. He did not say when it would happen, as science cannot yet predict the exact occurrence of earthquakes.

Happy Monday

Another Monday morning..
I am enjoying my Monday morning listening to forever awesome 'Boys Before flower' soundtrack ' and drinking my old town white coffee' after one wholesome 'Red Dragon Fruit' mmmmpphh! I feel fresh!
What a good Monday morning.. It is good to start early on Monday.
Many things to accomplish. Hope my mission complete this week.

Yeah! this week is my classes week. So life a bit like hell with that hahaha..
I will try to maintain cool this week.. although don't know what to expect!

Last Saturday , went for group discussion. Appointment at 10.00am and as usual Malaysian being Malaysian some even turn up at 11.30am never respect other members time at all.
We had came very early wait patiently for them.
Good that we manage to complete something during the meeting . Last us around 1.30pm.

Drove back home and checked in to TGV for Terminator hahaha yeah! naughty Rina!
Suppose to study back home back end up facing the big screen and do some window shopping.
Shopping for 'pepper spray'! Hard to find one.

Manage to get one at Watson Sg Wang on Sunday for around RM38.90. at least something for my protection.

Yeah! I am bad on sunday too. As usual love Pavillion on Sunday. Have my awesome Sunday Brunch at Pavillion. Then chill out there until late afternoon and head to Bangsar.Eat and eat ... ah! I really enjoy food..
My favourite night market. fruits are fresh and delicious!
I want to stay in Bangsar one day! Why? because of the night market. sort of that way but I also love the environment there!

I reach home around 9.45pm. Turn on my computer and start working on the group project and do some reading for 1 hours and try to have a nice sleep.
Ah! I can't sleep. 1.30am my eyes still wide open. now I remember I should not drink that 'Teh Halia'. Totally forgotten tea make me cannot sleep at night!
Have quarter glass of 'Dome' and finally feel sleepy around 2.30am.
Wake up around 5.15am and I am off to work to beat the jam!

I am trying to hypnotise myself to have good good week.....
