Good manners and etiquette makes a business! We Filipinos stick to this rule. We are usually strict in following a set of professional protocol where respect to co-employees and especially to bosses are a norm. We usually find it rude to address our bosses according to their first name or even act loudly in front of them. But this is not the case to Australian employees.
According to the latest global survey, it was found out that Australians are among the most offensive when it comes to workplace etiquette while Americans and Britons being the most sensitive and easily gets insulted.
The poll conducted by Australian-based International Office Space Provider (Servcorp) listed Australian's top 5 most offensive behaviors:
1. Not saying hello or good morning.
2. Not showing hospitality like giving beverage to office guests.
3. Speaking loudly across the room.
4. Uttering swear words.
5. And taking calls on mobile phones while working.
Australians find these behaviors okay while Americans and Britons find them very insulting. Though the survey revealed how loose is the working etiquette in Australia, this only shows that Australians are very natural in their business style compared to other countries in the world. Not to mention that they do succeed in their businesses even abroad.
