Wallabies-Men of Gold 2011

Wallabies-Men of Gold 2011 minted by Pert Mint. The Wallabies have competed in all six Rugby World Cups, and won the World Cup on two occasions – in 1991 defeating England and in 1999 defeating France. The team competes annually with New Zealand and South Africa in the Tri-Nations Series. Within this series, they contest the Bledisloe Cup with New Zealand and the Nelson Mandela Challenge Plate with South Africa. Currently, Australia is ranked second in the International Rugby Board World Rankings. The coin struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, the Wallabies – Men of Gold coin is the official coin of the Australian Rugby Union (ARU).


The coin’s reverse depicts a Wallabies player in action, holding a rugby ball. The design features the famous Wallabies green and gold colours and official logo. The design also incorporates the inscription MEN OF GOLD 2011 and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.


Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.
