Look-A-Like?

Did someone already told you that you look like another person but you don't even know or is not even related to you? Or do you know someone that has a total look-a-like? Not a twin but two different persons that exactly share a common facial feature? Let's say an almost exact copy? Hmmmm, strange but I've proven this to be possible.

While I was browsing the net, I end up with an interesting article about Francois Brunelle, a photographer that is hooked on collecting photographic portraits of North American and European look-a-likes. His fascination with portrait photography led him to this intriguing exposition of photographic work--"Im not a look-a-like", a compilation of photos that feature two look-a-likes, who are not related, side by side.

9,550 years old TREE - the oldest in the world

The world's oldest known living tree was found in the mountains of Sweden. This conifer first took root at the end of the last Ice Age. Though its trunk is less than 600 years old, its roots date back to 9,550 years ago, making it the world's oldest known living tree, scientists say.

This Norway spruce, of a species commonly used as Christmas trees in Europe, was found in 2004 on a Swedish mountaintop. It is a mountain shrub survivor found at an altitude of 2,985 feet5 (900 meters) in Dalarna Province. According to scientists, its longevity is largely due to its ability to clone itself.

This oldest tree stands 13-foot-tall (4-meter-tall). Its stems can live up to 600 years. But as soon as the stem dies, a new one grows from the same root stock. This is the reason why it has a very long life expectancy.

Meet the Pregnant Man

Meet Thomas Beatie, a 34 year old fe-MALE (transgender) from pacific North West of USA. He is a married man who is now pregnant and will give birth to a baby girl this July.

Huh? A pregnant guy? Well, this i think, proves the power of medical breakthroughs. See below his photos as a child and a teenager....

Tracy with mom

Tracy at 17

Mr. Beatie was born female, named Tracy Lagundino. He had gender reassignment surgery and now is legally married to a woman. His wife, Nancy, couldn't bear a child since she had hysterectomy years ago. Their desire to build a family and raise children of their own pushed Thomas to make the hardest decision of undergoing pregnancy.

“How does it feel to be a pregnant man? Incredible,” wrote Thomas Beatie, in the latest issue of the gay magazine The Advocate.

“Despite the fact that my belly is growing with a new life inside me, I am stable and confident being the man that I am.”

“Sterilisation is not a requirement for sex reassignment, so I decided to have chest reconstruction and testosterone therapy but kept my reproductive rights,” he writes. “Wanting to have a biological child is neither a male nor female desire but a human desire.” The couple, who have been together for ten years, run a custom screenprinting business in Bend, Oregon, where neighbours do not know that Mr Beatie was once a woman.

“Our desire to work hard, buy our first home and start a family was nothing out of the ordinary. That is, until we decided that I would carry our child,” he wrote.

Before becoming pregnant, Mr Beatie stopped the testosterone injections he was receiving as part of his gender reassignment. “It had been roughly eight years since I had my last menstrual cycle so this wasn’t a decision that I took lightly. My body regulated itself after about four months and I didn’t have to take any exogenous oestrogen, progesterone or fertility drugs to aid my pregnancy,” he wrote.

The couple bought donor vials from a cryogenic sperm bank and, facing resistance and prejudice from doctors, resorted to home insemination. “Doctors have discriminated against us, turning us away due to their religious beliefs. Healthcare professionals have refused to call me by a male pronoun or recognise Nancy as my wife. Receptionists have laughed at us. Friends and family have been unsupportive; most of Nancy’s family doesn’t even know I’m transgender,” he said.

Mr Beatie’s first successful insemination ended in a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy with triplets that required surgery, resulting in the loss of all his embryos and his right Fallopian tube. “When my brother found out about my loss, he said, ‘It’s a good thing that happened. Who knows what kind of monster it would have been?’,” he wrote.

The second pregnancy resulted in a baby girl who is due to be born on July 3. “I will be my daughter’s father, and Nancy will be her mother. We will be a family,” he wrote.

Mr Beatie would not be the first transgender man to give birth, according to Lisa Masterson, an obstetrician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles.

“A transgender man can be pregnant because he has the same organs as a woman,” Dr Masterson said on the ABC Good Morning America show.

Dr Masterson said, however, that transgendered men face special health risks resulting from their sex change. “It’s really important that he doesn’t take any testosterone early on in the pregnancy and later on,” she said. “That can cause male-type characteristics in the female baby.”

Some of the Beaties’ neighbours in Bend voiced scepticism about the pregnancy claim. One resident, Josh Love, told ABC: “I couldn’t say that he looks pregnant. I can stick my stomach out and almost make it look like that. I think it’s kind of bizarre. I don’t know if I believe it or not.”

The Advocate said it had confirmed the story with Mr Beatie’s doctor.

Black and White Twins

In February 2006, a bizarre case of a woman who gave birth to a twin black and white fraternal girls raved the UK newspapers. The odd of such birth are about a million to one, experts said.

"It was a shock when i realized that my twins were two different colors", Kylie Hodgson, 19, told the Daily Mail. "But it doesn't matter to us - they are our two gorgeous little girls".

Kylie and her partner Remi Horder were both born to mixed-raced parents. According to fertility experts, they suspect that a sperm contaning all-white genes had fused with an egg with an all-black genes, producing the fraternal twins.

The two angels were named Kian and Remee. Both have blue eyes, with Remee having blonde hair while Kian having black hair. As time passes by, Remee's skin tone has become lighter, while Kian's become darker and her eyes even turned brown.

Kian and Remee's case are indeed just among the rarest medical anomalies.

Bizarre but True (A woman who gave birth to 69 children)

Believe it or not, a Russian woman holds the record for giving birth to 69 children. This is among the celebrated medical anomalies of multiple births. This is Mrs. Vassilet (1816-1872), the first wife of Fyodor Vassilet, a farmer from Shuya, Russia. She went through no less than 27 pregnancies, wherein she had twins 16 times, triplets 7 times, and 4 times quadruplets, which brings out a total of 69 children! Whooa!

The most amazing fact here is that, majority of the children lived up to their adult age, which was rare that time due to lack of medical know-how.

Mrs Vassilet’s fecundity made her so famous that she even met tsar Alexander II. So it looks like Mrs Duggar, with her 17 children, has a long way to go…:-)

I love shoes and it really awes me a lot seeing real exquisite pairs like the stilettos and pumps worn by popular Hollywood stars and models. But looking this odd high heel shoes makes me wonder if they are really wearable. Well, FYI, this pair of shoes bears the tag from the Guinness World Record as the highest heels that is commercially available for a mere 725. It towers with an 11 inches platform and 16 inches heels. This is made by LadyBWear of Cheadle, Cheshire England.

The question now is, can you wear them without even falling over?

A MOTHER'S DAY SPECIAL

This post is especially dedicated to all the mothers out there including me. This is our big day! Happy Mother's Day! Most especially to my super momma..(you're the greatest luv yah!)

M... is for the million things she gave me,

O... means only that she's growing old,

T... is for the tears she shed to save me,

H... is for her heart of purest gold;

E... is for her eyes, with love-light shining,

R... means right, and right she'll always be.

Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER,"
A word that means the world to me.

Cool trivia about MOTHERS.
  • There are 84 million mom's in the U.S.

  • The youngest mother on record was Lina Medina, who delivered a 6½-pound boy by cesarean section in Lima, Peru in 1939, at the age of 5 years and 7 months.

  • The odds of a woman delivering twins is 1-in-33. Her odds of having triplets is approximately 1-in-539.

  • August is the most popular month for having a baby.

  • Kentucky has the highest percentage of women who are mothers at 67%. The national average is 57%.

  • About 4 million women will have babies this year.

  • The median age of a woman giving birth for the first time in the U.S. is 24.8.

  • Daughters keep in closer contact with their mothers than sons do. (Pew Research)

  • There are more phone calls made on Mother's Day than on any other day of the year. (Pew Research)

  • The number of people calling their moms on Mother's Day has declined in recent years due to e-mail and other electronic means of communication.

  • While nearly 80 percent of Americans will buy a card for mom this year, 83 percent of the cards will be purchased by daughters.

  • Mother's Day is the third-largest card-sending holiday.

  • Mother's Day is the busiest day of the year for restaurants.

Probably you'll agree with me that oftentimes we neglect to show our moms how much we love them and how much they really mean to us. Yes, we say 'Happy Mother's Day' to our moms when the day comes but after, we go on with our usual routines-friends, night outs, self, etc.

When is the last time that you've said 'i love you' to your momma? Rare? Well, it doesn't need to be a "Mother's Day" to show you love and thank them. Make everyday a 'Mother's Day'. :-)

Philippines: threatened by the RISING SEA LEVELS

I felt the need to share this alarming fact about the negative effects of GLOBAL WARMING to our land. I don't intend to scare you but this is the truth! The map of the world may have to be redrawn if the sea level would continuously rise until the end of the century. Among the countries that is pointed to be severely affected is the Philippines. Our land is on its way to extreme catastrophic climate change and if the government will not take an ambitious move to avert a disaster like this, then many Filipinos will be put to grave risk.

FYI:

Sea level rise can be defined as an increase in sea level caused by global warming through two main processes: the thermal expansion of sea water and the rapid melting of land ice.

The Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC 2007) projects an increase of temperature ranging between 1.1 and 6.40 C over the next century, necessarily entailing a reduction of the amount of ice. As a result, sea levels could rise 10 to 23 inches by 2100.

A third of the world’s population living within 50 km of the coasts and a great proportion and a large proportion of them live much closer to the shoreline. Even a modest sea level rise could inundate low-lying regions, accelerate coastal erosion and force the relocation of communities and infrastructures.

Although it is not well established how fast the ice sheet will melt, if the Greenland and the West and East Antarctica ice sheets were to melt, it would be enough to raise the sea level by approximately 65 meters. The EPA approximates that 10,000 square miles of land would be erased by a two-foot rise in sea level. A one-foot rise in sea level might well translate to a 200-foot retreat of shoreline. In addition, the IPCC suggests that by 2080, sea level rise could convert as much as 33 percent of the world’s coastal wetlands to open water (IPCC 2007).

Sea level rise is also expected to make coastal cities more vulnerable to extreme weather (such as hurricanes) as well as to destroy important ecosystems such as wetlands and mangroves. Rising sea level inundates low-lying lands, erodes shorelines, exacerbates flooding, and increases the salinity of estuaries and aquifers. Islands are particularly exposed as many are gradually facing the loss of their fresh water supply due to salt-water intrusion. Low-lying coastal areas and deltas (the land where rivers feed into the ocean) house at least 300 million people and are particularly threatened by sea level rise.

Some developing countries are especially exposed to sea level rise due to their low- lying nature and limited financial resources to respond. Among the most vulnerable are countries with large populations in deltaic coastal regions such as Bangladesh, Vietnam, China and Egypt.

Two populous island nations, the Philippines and Indonesia, have millions who face displacement from their homes from sea level rise. Several small island state nations including the Maldives in the Indian Ocean and the Marshall Islands and Tuvalu in the Pacific could face extinction within this century if rates of sea level rise accelerate.

source

The projected effects of climate change to the archipelago:

An indicative one-meter rise in sea level for example is projected to affect 64 out of 81 provinces, covering at least 703 out of 1,610 municipalities and inundating almost 700 million square meters of land. A one meter rise in global sea level can occur sooner with the melting of the Greenland and West Antarctica ice sheets if global carbon dioxide emissions are not immediately curbed. In the worst case scenario involving the complete melting of the said ice sheets, global sea level is projected to rise from between seven to twelve meters.

It is really alarming to even imagine what will happen to us with the threat of the rising sea levels. Knowing that Albay is among the low-lying regions in the archipelago, i fear that one day all of us will be permanently displaced from our homes. I may be reacting exaggerated, but you see, climate change is no joke and we've already seen its effects, the unprecedented strength and number of super typhoons that had hit us in the recent years are just some of the indications. I just hope that our present government will take action in possibly averting this catastrophe, even if this means relocation to millions of Filipinos to safer grounds.

your UNDERWEAR and your PERSONALITY

Now everyone can tell what kind of person are you by the underwear you are wearing. Hahaha just don't tell me that you are wearing those granny panties.

Granny panties

If you are wearing this type of underwear, it's either laundry day or you want the security of a full coverage panty. This is actually cool as you prefer being secure and comfortable inside this sack. You tend to play it safe, but if you'd let yourself go once in awhile, you'd be surprised how silly you could be!

Boxer Man

If you are the type of man who loves wearing boxers, then you know how to let loose (not literally!) and have a good time. You love to travel and spend time with friends an be on the go. You are easy going, always up for adventure and there's no holding you back.

Keep It Brief

Most girls tend to wear bikini briefs as they are just the right fit between coverage and still exudes being feminine. But more that that, girls wearing this type of undies also tend to be flirty, silly, and open-minded. So drool guyz and let your imagination run wild! (hahaha)

The Organizer

Guys who wear boxer briefs are typically cool, collected and organized. Often they are the leaders of the group and organize friends when it's time to party. They are the life of the party, but be sure that everyone's enjoying and having a good time. As long as they can forget control from time to time, they will be successful.

Go Commando

If you don't wear underwear, like Britney Spears, then you like to go commando! You either have forgotten to do the laundry completely, or you are a rebel. Yeah right you are a rebel! You hate rules and you make your own rules. Embrace your independence. You just love freedom and let it all hang out.

In a Bunch

Holy tighty whities! Guyz wearing these kind of underwear are either younger than 12 or just wanted a complete control in their life. This is ok. Just learn to relax from time to time and breathe.

The Thong Song

If you love wearing thongs, then maybe you are obsessed of flossing (this is a healthy approach anyway if you don't want gingivitis). Seriously, women wearing this type of undies are willing to show off everything to the world ... yet.

Calling in the Troops

Going commando is a little harder for guys, considering the horror of zipper accidents. It takes a brave man to really put himself out there, with nothing between himself and metal teeth. Freedom does always come with a price. Guys who love being naked are willing to live on the edge, and always know where the nearest hospital is. (haha)

About a Boy

Wearing boy shorts, in women doesn't mean that you're more of a tomboy. You're just probably pretty athletic and strong. Just as long as you know where to draw the line between you and the boys (no jock straps), then you're good.

String It Up

You know you're like a finely tuned guitar, all your strings in perfect tune ... so why hide that? You're all about letting the world see everything that other people might hide. And you're not ashamed, even if you should be, because you're comfortable in your own skin ... which is good, cause you're sure not comfortable in that "underwear

So now tell me, which underwear type do you belong? :-)

the horrifying truth about the incestuous escapade of Josef Fritzl-The Man Who Held Captive His Daughter for 24 Years as a SEX SLAVE

People from around the world were shocked and baffled by the news about an Austrian man-Josef Frtizl, who had imprisoned his real own daughter for 24 years in the basement. The most shocking truth about this story is that, he had kept his daughter as a sex slave for years and guess what? He even had seven children with her! Honestly, I was really raged by this story especially that I am a mother and a daughter too. What really puzzled me is that, how the hell did this mad man managed to hide his daughter at the basement of his own house, to think that his wife is living there too.

Over the last few days, as the investigation progresses, the real story was revealed. The full magnitude of the events is hard to ignore. Elisabeth Fritzl, the victim, along with her three children (aged 19,18 and 5)had never seen the sunlight until their release. One of the seven offsprings died of inadequate care.

dungeon bathroom

the dungeon

dungeon door

According to police reports, Fritzl was a retired electrical engineer. He used his skills to create a basement dungeon that measured less than 6ft. high in some areas. It has a total living space of 3 cells, measuring 650 Sq.Ft. in total. To avoid his family from gaining access to this dungeon, he had built a huge 660lb. concrete door that is fitted with an electronic lock hidden behind the shelf in his workshop. The lock can only be opened thru a remote control, which he carried with him all the time. It wasn't until the 19-year-old daughter fell seriously ill that pushed Fritzl to seek medical attention and subsequently led to the exposure of the horrifying story.

a view of the house

However, though the severity of the case proves to be inhumane, Fritzl is only faced with a maximum of 15 years in prison if convicted of rape. In his age, 73, he wouldn't probably live out the term but this punishment for me is absurd. Raping your daughter at a minor age and detaining her for 24 years plus giving her the shame of bearing his 7 incestuous offspring is not enough to fit the bill. Even a quick death will not do justice!
