Probably you have already heard about the Bermuda Triangle. This is among the greatest mysteries here on earth that is still left unresolved, though we are supposedly in a well understood world. This region lies in the Atlantic Ocean, between Bermuda, Miami, Florida, San Juan and Puerto Rico. It does not have an absolute location because of its huge scope, wherein it lies in between 80-90 degrees west and 30-20 degrees north. This region is famous for the disappearances of about 66 airplanes and ships. What makes this region enigmatic is the fact that none, not even one of the vanished ships and planes had been found. These disappearances have mystified many, allowing them to formulate and propound many versions that would explain what happened to the missing travelers. This had caused many exotic theories that intend to unveil what really lies beneath the Bermuda Triangle.
The mysterious disappearances of ships, aircrafts and people have been attributed to the machinations of gigantic sea monsters, huge squids, extra terrestrials, alien abduction, the existence of a third dimension, and ocean flatulence. All these are suggested to be the culprits but are merely masterpieces of wild imaginations.
In reality, the disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle are far more prosaic. Some argue that the treacherous mother nature, poor engineering and design of ships and planes, human error, and just plain bad luck can explain it all. But how can one explain that among the many disappearances, none was found. Remains, traces, and even a slight tinge of evidence on the lost ships and planes-no clue were found. With this intriguing, I should say “phenomenon”, many are interested in discovering the answer.
Viable theories that will explain the mystery behind Bermuda Triangle have been introduced. One of these theories had claimed that the role of methane gas hydrate was responsible for the weird occurrence. This was introduced by Richard Mclver. His theory points out that, in the North of Bermuda Triangle, massive landslides occur in the continental shelf. This had caused large stones and sludge to fall down to the sea floor and destructively rupturing the sea floor, which covers the layer of gas hydrate. Once the sea floor had ruptured, the hydrate is released rapidly as well as its methane content. As a result, a huge surge of gas erupts from the surface of water. This can happen without any warning. When this occurs, any ship, plane or tangible object within the vicinity will be in instant danger. This is because the water and air no longer have the same density. This is what causes the ship to sink and immediately covered by sludge on the ocean floor.
While this theory may sound feasible, still, it is only a theory-no concrete evidence or whatsoever that will prove it right. Some still believe that something not otherworldly or more extraordinary are the culprits of these strange events. Others think that it is a portal to another world. But whatever it is that causes mystery to the Bermuda Triangle, you be the judge-is it a fact or only a fiction?
