Would you believe that a human can live for a span of 4 months and even beyond without a heart? Yes, without a heart! Crazy right? But, never doubt this as the case of D'Zhana Simmons is truly record-breaking.D'Zhana is a 14 year old teenager who had lived for exactly 118 days without a heart and this was made possible by her doctors and of course with the help of high technology medical apparatuses. What she has gone through was never a joke. She has undergone 2 heart transplants and had cheated death. She did survived the malady thru an artificial heart which served to pump blood throuhgout her body for 4 months.
D'Zhana was diagnosed to have an enlarged heart, which is too weak to supply blood to her body. This is the reason why she had to have a heart transplant to survive. Luckily she has surpassed the crucial process of heart transplant and is now released from a Miami Hospital.
Her natural heart was replaced with a pair of artificial pumping devices that works to circulate blood through her body temporarily. This will suffice until her second transplant.
All I can say is goodluck to her second transplant.
